Deatra Starling-Kinard is a dedicated wife and a mom first. But put a math problem or a reading book in front of her, and you’ll see why many come to her sessions and leave there feeling confident and excited about learning. Deatra firmly believes, “The value of what We do is NOT measured by the number of people We serve or the number of people who see our work. The value of what We do is measured by taking joy in loving and serving the scholars who are right in front of us!
1 Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” Fulfillment and joy are within reach, as I choose to serve the people God has placed in front of me, one precious SCHOLAR at a time.”
A graduate of Stephen F. Austin and the University of Texas, Arlington, Deatra holds a Master of Education in Teaching and considers it an honor and passion to serve and to support scholars from all over the DFW area by providing them the tools and resources to be successful in and out of the classes. She encourages them to take risks and apply the concepts from their sessions into their classrooms.
In addition to Deatra’s academic and instructional support, she also provides test preparation for the TSI, ACT, and SAT exams. She is excited to partner with scholars and their parents to assist in helping achieve the greatest success of getting in the college of their choice.
Deatra is the Chief Educator of STAR Academic Services. She, her husband, Joe, and son, Lofton James reside in a small town just outside of Mansfield, Texas. When she is not taking scholars from good to Greater, she is still inspiring them to: ”Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”; she is traveling with her husband and son or shopping at Macy’s.
